Just got this book a few days ago. I must say it was a pleasant read! The story hero, Robert Landon, got invited to Washington D.C by his teacher Peter Solomon for a little speech and everything goes wrong from there. This book covers much of the Freemasonry societies and the usual codes deciphering are very intriguing! Where can you find novels that teaches you some form of code deciphering?! If you’re bored, go create your own code using the info from there =) The information in this novels makes you ponder if what was mentioned here was true, in existence or hoax. And certainly, this book will somehow increased the tourism rates to the U.S Capitol Hall! If I have the chance to go to Washington, I most probably hangout at the historic sites mentioned here.

Dan Brown does it again with his wide research and good storyboard that always have a inner meaning to his story. This is a celebration of the wonders of the human brain can achieve! Then again, the title is a freaking giveaway at the end >.<

Recently, I read J.K Rowling’s speech at Harvard University’s 357th Commencement on the Sunday Times. She was the principal speaker for the Commencement. She touched on the essential of failure, of how hitting rock bottom became the solid foundation on which she rebuilt her life. I loved the way she started her speech, on how she made everyone relaxed in the beginning with that “gay wizard”.

I am suffering after years of speeches that always concentrated on the main objective immediately, heavily ingested as sweet smelling vomitus served on a silver platter. “Yummy!”, that is where I wander to Lalaland.

Writing a speech is a totally different story. I can’t ever write a paragraph that flows properly. Oh well, I shall just keep that article in my piled up corner and type it in the comp when I have the time.

After getting that book and reading it, things changed. I actually started to do things with a purpose. Just like a good cup of coffee in the morning to start. I guess my days of drifting aimlessly are numbered. Bye bye, WoW! Hello, to more meaningful time spent on better things!

Back to the book =) And lots of work to do…

Like a blade

It’s Earth day today! NGC was showing this show on bees. I love NGC!

About the bees, right. Well, bees are the workforce of Nature. They fly around everyday to gather nectar and, the most important function, pollinate plants. In other words, they help plants to mate and reproduce (bear fruits).

From this little point of view you might think that the little bee does something insignificant. Imagine hundred millions of bees are flying around pollinating plants, to grow fruits, eg apples, pears, oranges. They help with the reproduction of the other certain plants needed by cattle or other animals in the food cycle. In the end, we are at the top of the food chain. The bees help us make food, indirectly.

Sadly, they are currently plagued by a virus. They call this the “Colony Collapsing Disease”. Naturally, there is an in-built defense mechanism in the bees to fly away from the colony to prevent infecting any disease to the rest of the colony. So they just disappear! Amazing!

Large quantities of bees are missing. Less bees to pollinate the plants. Less plants bear fruits. Less food quantities. GG

The End.

Say a little prayer…

RIAA suing citizen for copying legally purchased CDs to PC

Sure, we’ve heard RIAA-admiring lawyers affirm that ripping your own CDs is in fact “stealing,” but it seems the aforementioned entity is putting its money where its mouth is in a case against Jeffrey Howell. Reportedly, the Scottsdale, Arizona resident is being sued by the RIAA, and rather than Mr. Howell just writing a check and calling it a day, he’s fighting back in court. Interestingly, it seems that the industry is maintaining that “it is illegal for someone who has legally purchased a CD to transfer that music into their computer.” Ira Schwartz, the industry’s lawyer in the case, is arguing that MP3 files created on his computer from legally purchased CDs are indeed “unauthorized copies,” and while we’ve no idea what will become of all this, we suppose you should go on and wipe those personal copies before you too end up in handcuffs.

- Engadget

Retardedness at its best. If this happens in Singapore and RIAA has its way, everyone with a mp3 player standalone, or on the pc, or in the cell would be guilty of this. Hmm, good stakes here. At least a 1/3 of the population. So if everyone is advised to deleted their copies, life is so not gonna be the same again. Limiting oneself to listening on CDs that, gets scratched easily, carrying loads of cds in a cd wallet. I have done that. It’s heavy! It’s backward progression.

Once again, retardedness.
