Atsui!!! Ubin!
The guys at the AnE department organised a department outing to Pulau Ubin. On an EFFING hot thursday. Haven’t stepped on the island since like quite a few years back. 6 or 7 years? Yet I still remember all the traditional bicycle rental shops, the nice quarries. The mud roads are gone! Real roads cover the pathways now.
They build a boardwalk around chek jawa, the eastern side of the island. The only place where you can see seagrass area. If you’re very lucky enough, you might catch a dugong as this place is one of the few last places to for them forage.
A viewing jetty at the end of the boardwalk. I missed the sea breeze that I used to enjoy everyday during the NS days.
This is where you can munch goodies, enjoy the sea breeze, the smell of the fresh sea breeze, enjoy the sounds of waves crashing on the rock behind you. Right below you is the sea grass area. It would be quite a spectacular view when the tide ebbs away..
His tattoos are god-damned cool lah!!!
To the west of the island would be the OBS grounds and the mountain biking trail around the quarry. Great trails if you wanna do some mountain biking there. Of course, you gotta bring your own bike to enjoy it =)
Mangroves need salt water! They create a whole new environment for the animals to live among them for protection. AWESOME! Nature and her haphazard way of organising things to inter-rely on each other =)
