One of the few things that I have been waiting for years to manifest. And surely, it most certainly arrived! For 4 years, I have been waiting for this concert to come to Singapore ever since they started the Dear Friends concert in LA, 10 May 2004.
I was so ecstatic with joy when I got the newsletter that they were bring the concert to the Esplanade to open the Arts Fest here! It’s like a dream come true!!!!
ZOMG. Grabbed Sean and his girlfriend, Mao couldn’t make it and bought the best seats they could offer =D
Here’s the inside. Pretty close to the Stage.
And, suddenly. Someone screamed “Nobuo Uematsu-san!!!” You don’t get a lot of screaming in Esplanade Concert halls, as from my prior concert experiences. Those regulars are probably annoyed by it. But too bad, this is a game music concert. They have to made do with it.
All eyes scanned the front for the legend.
And he popped up 3 rows in front of where we were sitting!!! /ZOMGFAINTZ. Everyone who knew him clapped and clapped, hardly believing that he, Nobuo Uematsu, was in presence!
The concert led by Conductor Arnie Roth, was uber fantastic. Beautiful. No words to truly describe its magnificence. The Esplanade finally had a legendary composer gracing its seats with a standing ovation from Singaporeans. Which is RARE.
I grew up with Final Fantasy music. Typical RPG gamer. Earphones had been stuck to my head since my JC years playing all the tunes like, Liberi Fatali, One Winged Angel, Fisherman’s Horizon, Wind Crest Trails., Chocobo Theme.. and many many more! It comforted me in thos busy raging society to give me my personal sanctuary.
In the end, I couldn’t get his autograph. DAMN IT.
Uematsu-san himself! His music gives us a glimpse of his passion and inspiration.
