Adventure

_MG_9463

3 weeks on hiatus. 1 hour of impromptu decision making. A heart to follow to make things clear. An adventure and discovery. And finally, self-realisation. I have awakened. Alive and back from Hong Kong!

A few clicks here and there, tickets are in my hands. Thanks to the wonders of technology! This is the one. The one adventure that can change everything. To discover and realise, in a land far away.

Going somewhere far alone has always been a fascination to me. Sometimes, I dream about going to places to visit friends all over the world. Walking around this world is just a fascination on its own. This is a start, somehow. It may be small, but it’s a small step to start something big.

I wonder if I would call back home when I’m abroad… This time I didn’t. Always connected with the Internet somehow. Connected to the world. Always around, somehow.

Somewhere.

Thanks to friends who sent me off! Jie, Jo, and Ed. Thank you so much for that extra push. Going up the plane alone is quite intimidating. It’s not about being alone. But about facing the uncertainty when the door opens at the other end. Ironically, my excitement about getting lost is my only comforting friend.

The marvels of my virgin budget airline flight left me stirred with intrigue about what this level of air travel is all about. You can buy food and water at exorbitant “budget” prices. And the back of lovely and intricate gray leather seat provides ample entertainment by staring into each other face. Else, just cringe in the seat and die of thirst and hunger if you left your S$ moolah (quoted from Jo, who quoted from somewhere) in the check-in luggage. These are the times I would whisper “Thanks for being with me!” in the mic of my Iphone. The music serenaded with its magic for the next 4 hours, complemented with bums from bums walking down the aisle.

To Mong Kok? Take Bus A21 from the bus terminus below the airport, and drop at the bus stop 5 stops before the one I dropped and walked back. Ask when to stop and don’t get so drawn to looking at green and gray pixels flying by the window screen. To be safe, take the Airport Express and MTR, which I should have done in the first place. But, NO!!! Budget, save money. My gift of getting lost never fails me.

Threw the load at the Auntie taking care of the hostel and she bids me farewell! I’m free! I’m LOST! Where am I? (No, I did not go up to the rooftop and do “Where am I” version of a Jackie Chan theatrical of “Who Am I?“)

I’m in HONG KONG! The place where mists eat buildings! OMG!

_MG_9494

The place where skyscapers dominate both the skyline and Nissan skylines zooming around, tourists photos and the reflections of skyscapers. Naturally, the cold mist swallows all of them up in the end.

The big bus drivers are trained to fly on the road like those in F1 racing, chew gum voraciously , shout a short verse of vulgarity regarding the jaywalker’s mother and swerve into the next bus stopĀ  with utmost precision all at the same time. Check out the green minibuses too! They conspired 2 of my failed attempted murders on the road.

_MG_9522

A tip: if you’re forever in love of getting lost in a city or threw away all the maps from the airport, find a MTR station. And you found yourself. I can’t help you if you’re lost again in the MTR station…

If you have time in the afternoon, you are obliged by the law of the common folk to sit down and consume delicious, bite-sized yummy stuff with a pot of hot tea. Failure to do so would make you regret for life. The company of the 2 lovely ladies are complimentary on their part. Lucky me!

_MG_9531

Some buildings in Mong Kok are aged with grey strains and rust at some corners. Their appearance give much of an impression of a fragmented view of a colorblinded eye. They are essential blocks of a city to accentuate its colorful characteristic.

_MG_9534

Where are all the ladies hiding in Ladies Street? Maybe they are hovering in another parallel universe shopping claiming their loots with glee. Mostly ladies stuff here at this street. With things like…

_MG_9541

Flower ornaments.

_MG_9540

Hot sunglasses that looks like those from Prada and Gucci.

_MG_9536

Hot and sexy lingerie! And a few bits of cosplay stuff for the more out-of-the-box species.

_MG_9551

Let’s take our eyes away from the bras and look up to the electric signboards above our heads. Impressive arrays of advertisements. Loud.

_MG_9584

Insomnia is prevalent in the streets. Near midnight seems like a great time for some elbow-banging rugby on the streets. Bang, and a path be given.

End.

Bring you mouse here. Click me.

I know you will. Somehow.
