Another Day in Kyoto! Day 3
Started the day late again. Woke up at 9am. We were supposed to wake up around 5am. Personally, I blame it on the über comfortable and soft blanket that weighs a tonne on the body that’s trying to push it aside every morning.
Melon pan for breakfast again. More chasing pigeons around at the big shrine nearby, Daishinden. I swear to you, JIE HAS A PIGEON FETISH! He goes “hur hur, so cute!” everytime he sees one!
Took the JR line to Saga-arashiyama on the Sagano line. Very easy to navigate. I forgot to charge the batteries for the cam last night, hope that it can last for today’s trip.
Tenryu shrine is known as sky dragon shrine. Bought the charms from there. Must come back for winter!
The bamboo groove next to the shrine is pretty surreal. Quiet. Cooling. The bamboos swaying with the wind. Nice feeling =D
We wandered off again to somewhere up high with a summit. Mountain has a nice view of 3 mountains and a river valley. Seem like there’s a ferry ride down there! I wanna go ride one! One of the rare times that I blog on a mountain summit.
Stopped by this resthouse along the river for lunch. Zaru soba! Jie, being the photographer he is, shoots me whenever I blog in the mountain, river, toilet, reststops. It’s very quiet and peaceful feeling here. This zarusoba rocks! The wasabi is ground from the wasabi plant, not the powdered creamy ones. The soba is damn nice! Jie had tempura udon. It feels very homey to eat by this resthouse. The river is beautiful, the trees swaying with the wind, what a sight.
4th bottle of Kirin milk tea LOL!
We continued walking down to Togetsu bridge. More shopping at the tourist traps.
Taking the 1541h train back to kyoto. We went back to our little cosy inn to rest for an hour before heading ouy again. Back to more shopping at keijan shijio station for some pretty stones. A little tired. But hey! There’s more shopping to be done!
Once again, we had dinner by the Kamo river! Today’s menu is Roasted rice cakes! This evening’s weather is pretty cold at 22.9 degrees. Amazingly we didn’t bring extra layers out in the afternoon. Back to more walking around!
Then we dropped by Gap. /gg to the wallet. The fall collection here is amazing! Lots of layers to choose from. It’s rather sad that we can’t wear multilayers in Singapore. Well, perhaps only in super cold air-conditioned places.
After the wallet is burnt for the day, back to the inn.
The album is here.
Edit: 14/10/2008. thousand million pieces…. Just like… poof.
